Synopsis
Gwynnevere Jones may seem like just a regular girl working a retail job in a small town but you’d be wrong. Because her small town of Graves Glenn isn’t a normal small town – it’s a town entirely obsessed with Halloween. That retail job? It’s actually a kitschy witchy themed boutique she owns with her mom. & she’s not just a regular girl either…she’s a witch. Pretty cool right? Well, it was all going pretty perfectly until Llewelyn Penhallow stepped back into town. Now she’s in a small feud over their competeing witch shops. Then to make matters worse, all of her coven of witches keeping their precious magic haven town safe are all away. Leaving her stuck protecting the town with none other than Llewelyn (aka Wells.) As if that isn’t terrible enough, now the two must team up to save their town from dark magic. Only to find themselves with sparks flying & chemistry sizzling between them. Save Graves Glenn & don’t let any cursed kisses muck it up. Should be easy right?
Break It Down

This story was so dang cute. I adored Gwyn in the first book & was so so excited the second one was her story. The enemies to lovers vibe was well done. Not too much hatred & just enough sizzle. & the banter?! Ungh. Top Notch. We love a good sassy FMC. Gwyn isn’t exactly sunshine but it also had a bit of the grumpy/sunshine that I also really enjoyed. Just like the first book in this series this is a happy fluffy holiday themed romcom. This one was definitely my favorite of the two. I loved the “bad guy” in this one too. It had a psuedo mystery going on & it was just a really fun book. Hats off to Erin for this one – so fun.

Dual POV is always my favorite & this one did a pretty good job with it. Occasionally, I had to double check which perspective I was reading for the first couple of paragraphs but once I got to know the characters a bit better it was easier. I read all 300 pages in an afternoon & I’m thinking that had a lot to do with the fact that Erin writes such an engaging fast paced story. I never got bored or felt like I wanted to put it down.

This was a bit of a slow burn but duh obviously people who think they don’t like each other aren’t going to get to the good part in 40 pages. *laughing emoji* I enjoyed their chemistry. Really their banter was like foreplay. There are a few fade to black scenes but also a few well written spicy moments. His words in the back of the truck *panting emoji* girl. Yes. Please.

I really loved this. It was so cute. The way the author tied in the family drama for the Penhallow men was really well done. Honestly I wasn’t surprised by the bad guys at the end but despite that I feel like Erin did a good job with the reveal. A lot like the Ex Hex – this book had a total hallmark movie vibe, but this one I would totally have watched start to finish & probably rewatched. I had so much fun reading this one. If you’re into a whimsy witchy moment this is totally that, but if you’re into real magic & witchcraft this probably isn’t for you. I think it’s got totally disney channel original movie vibes but like…with sex. So basically the perfect romcom. Haha.
I am really hoping for a book on the third Penhallow brother. He seems like he’s going to be a total grumpy cinnamon roll & I want in on that. All that facial hair?! Yes. Let’s go! This book was such a fun read for me. Totally got me in the mood to decorate for Halloween & get some plastic pumpkins & tarot card bookmarks. Definitely start with The Ex Hex & let me know in the comments if you liked this series & your thoughts on Wells! I can just picture the man in his all black suit & it is definitely a top romcom MMC for me! Check out my bookstagram for more spooky season recommendations. I also have a review up for the Ex Hex if you want to see where this all started.
