Are you a mood reader or do you follow some kind of schedule when you read? I try to do both. Iโll never finish my tbr if I donโt. ๐คฃ๐คฃ For me, the easiest thing to do is go through my tbr (which I keep as a note in my phone that I add to when I see things I want to read) & then go through what new releases I know I want to read that month & then compile a list of roughly fifteen books. I try to keep a wide range (hockey/mafia/single dad/fantasy) & at least one series Iโm interested in. Iโll normally read about 18ish books a month. So that normally leaves me with a few mood read moments in case something on the list doesnโt fit my vibe at the moment. It also leaves room for ARCs or new releases I missed.
December is totally overbooked ๐คฃ but Iโm determined to make it work. My current December list is all planned out. I figured it was good to share to keep me accountable. LOL. I donโt have any ARCs for December planned & I only have a few new releases on the radar. So, it was the perfect month to add smutty Christmas stories. Love a Holiday romance ๐๐ I also have two buddy reads & a book club pick so itโs a full month.
Holiday Reads
First up in my Holiday selection is The Mistletoe Bet by Maren Moore. Maren Moore books never disappoint so when I saw she had a spicy Christmas novella out ๐ obviously it made the list. It has 4.5 stars on Amazon so I have little doubt it will be anything but amazing. Gotta love a little novella to start the holiday books off!
The blurb for this literally says โfa la la la la la FMLโ & I cackled. We love a grumpy FMC. Bring it on! Second chance holiday romance ๐ itโs like a hallmark movie but better because itโs spicy! ๐ถ๏ธ๐ถ๏ธ
This is the Holiday pick for Spicy Book Club this month & also a buddy read for me so this one is HIGHLY anticipated. It looks awesome & one of my bookstagram girls said it was spicy & fun so Iโm stoked to get started on this on the sixth. Holiday romances can be hit or miss so Iโm glad that I saw good reviews for this one before I started it.
This was the first holiday book I added to my list. I have seen it promoted everywhere & marketing won out bc I absolutely must read it now. I am however just now realizing most of these holiday ones Iโve picked are second change ๐ซฃ๐ซฃ so weโll see if maybe these kick me back into liking second chance books. Iโve basically avoided them half to he year (until what was meant to be ๐ฅต) so hereโs to hoping.
(Released Nov 29th) – Iโll be honest, I absolutely always read what Meghan writes & she wrote a holiday novella & I read it. I read it in an hour on release day. ๐คฃ It was cutesy & feel good. Zero spice though so if thatโs out for you just an FYI. It is super short but it was very fun.
Series
Okay I have quite a few series this month to get through. ๐ณ๐ณ Both the Lovelight Farms series & the Edenโs series start with a holiday book so they were perfect for December. I am really really excited for both of these. They have been recommended over & over to me. Iโve never read anything from Devney Perry & Iโm STOKED to get into the Edenโs. The first full length book, Indigo Ridge, has murder in the blurb so you know my CSI loving heart was going to be all over it. Iโm doing Lovelight Farms as a buddy ready but I knew I would want to just read the whole series so I am making it happen. (I am buying the physical copies of both of these series because LOOK AT THEIR COVERS ๐คโค๏ธ totally a must buy.)
Iโve had the Priest/Sinner/Saint on my physical TBR for too long. I have all three books on my shelf & I am trying to go into January with as few unread books as possible. Not sure why I have put these off but Iโm really excited. Iโve heard such amazing things about them & I am so ready.
I have Twisted Love as a physical book on my shelf so, assuming I like it – I plan to grab the rest of these pretty discreet covers from Barnes & Noble & read them this month. Totally saw that Twisted Hate made it on the Good Reads finalists for Romance so clearly I need to read it before the end of voting!
My girl Kristen could not stop raving about the Playing for Keeps series from Becka Mack & she never steers me wrong so I am currently reading these. I just finished Consider Me ๐๐ Carter Beckett has made top 5 book boyfriends for sure. Heโs amazing. Iโm about 30% into Garrett & Jennieโs book & I am loving it so far too. Iโll probably post a review for it soon.
Stand Alones
Okay, donโt come for me but I totally skipped this when I read the ACOTAR series. ๐ณ๐ณ I just wanted Nestaโs story okay?! But I figured it would be alright because I could read it during the holidays & it would feel more cozy. Who knows. I am excited to touch base with all my darlings though.
Yโall just look at that cover. I bought this at Barnes & Noble & put it on my bookshelf facing out because seriously Iโm obsessed. This was in the sci-fi section but to me it seems more just fiction. The blurb makes it sound like a retelling of some old Mexican fairytales. I think itโs going to be good. I really really enjoyed Mexican Gothic by this author so I wanted to try out more of her backlist. Iโve been looking forward to this one since October so fingers crossed it lives up to the hype.
Absolutely needed a billionaire romance in my lineup this month. This is one of my favorite tropes. One of the first books that got me back into reading was a billionaire romance & I am just a total sucker for them. Iโve heard nothing but good things about this one so I added it to the roster. Marni Mann is an author I havenโt read before & she keeps getting recommended to me. I have at least 3 other books by her on my tbr waiting so we are starting here.
This was my first read of December. It was one of the picks for spicy book club & it was soooo good. Solid 4 stars. Zanders is a total dick & Stevie is a full figure FMC with a feisty mouth. โค๏ธโค๏ธ Hockey Romance, Forced Proximity, Enemies to Lovers – SAY LESS.
GIIIIIIIIRL I am so fcking excited for this book!!!! Seriously, I have always loved the Anastasia myth stories. I have read a handful of books on the real story & obviously watched the cartoon at least a hundred times in my life. This is my most anticipated book this month. Sophie has posted some art that is in this book & I am pretty sure Iโm โ ๏ธโ ๏ธ. She also made Rasputin hotโฆbecause of course she did. ๐คฃ Catch me putting off all my adult responsibilities & binging the shit out of this on release day.
So there you go. 22 books & 4 novellas for December. That should put my year total over 300. My original goal was 200 so Iโm feeling pretty good about that. Iโll have a post in early January with all my top books for each month of 2022 & my overall top 5. Key an eye on my review index for my December reads.
