Break It Down
Story: ๐๐๐๐ – 4 Stars
I have never read a gothic novel before. This was a wonderful first go of it. The story captured me & kept me constantly engaged. I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the thrill of the unfolding nightmare Noemi was thrusted into. The author did a spectacular job making me curious & only giving away bit by bit of the story. The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars for me was the ending. This book was a slow burn to get to all the drama but I felt like th every end wrapped up too quickly & I wanted more of a fufilled “this is over” ending to feel seccure for Francis & Noemi. Maybe it’s being left open for a follow up novel? If so that would feel much better haha.

As I said, this was a slow burn. There was a long build up to understanding what in the heck was happening. Sylvia did an excellent job keeping the story forward moving. I read this book in a day because I was too wrapped up in it to put it down long. I do think the ending needed a little more detail & the characters needed a little more depth. But overall the writing was really good & it was well edited. The story was all in Noemi’s POV which was fun considering how much of the story was in her head.

This was not a spicy book. It barely had anything. A few kissing scenes, a bit of lusty desire moments & fantasy. However, I don’t think the story needed anything more for you to enjoy Francis & Noemi.
Overall: โจโจโจโจ – 4 stars
This was such a good book. I truly enjoyed every minute of its twisted story. I don’t usually go for scary or suspenseful things, not in books or movies or tv. The characters, plot twists & intense story were an excellent combination.
I would definitely add this to your spooky season TBR. It was a wonderful suspenseful book that completely engrossed me in the story. The author, Sylvia Soreno-Garcia, had not been on my radar before I randomly saw this book in target & grabbed it up. I will definitely be checking out more of her work. I think next from her I’ll try The Daughter of Doctor Moreou. Check out my bookstagram for more of my tbr & book hauls. I’ll for sure be adding more from Sylvia to my review index in the future.
