Review – Icebreaker (UCMH Book 1)

Synopsis

When a giant misunderstanding results in the destruction of one of the ice rinks at UCMH it causes all kinds of chaos. The biggest one for Anastasia is that now her rink time for figuring skating is being interrupted by the hockey team. With some of the biggest competitions of her career on the line she has absolutely no time in her perfectly planned schedule for any of their shenanigans.  Especially after her partner is injured in the aftermath. Now she’s stuck with the hockey team captain as a stand in figure skating parter. Yet somehow it’s the most fun & most free she’s felt in her life. Nathan Hawkins senior year was supposed to be his year to shine. Captain of this hockey team & destined for the NHL it was not supposed to be the year of fuck ups. But now with his teams season hanging in the balance he has to work together with Anastasia to help them both achieve their dreams. With all their time together it becomes clear their future dreams are going to need to make room for each other.

Story: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 – 5 Stars

God I love a hockey romance. Idk what it is but they just get me. This book was so good. I loved the figure skater/hockey player angle. Nathan & Stassi are hostile to lovers to friends to lovers. Their relationship builds in such a beautiful way. To quote the book – “Nathan Hawkins is a man who was most definitely written by a woman.” The man is absolutely the whole package. The side characters in this one make the story. I would die for Henry. Fight me. 

Content: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – 5 Stars

I devoured this book in a day. It was fast paced & engaging. I never felt like I wanted to skim ahead. It’s dual POV which we all know is the superior way to write a love story. The swap between characters was flawless. I loved getting to read Nathan’s inner monologue while he fell for Anastasia.

Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 – 4 Flames

Do not let that cartoon cover deceive you. This book is spicy. We get a lot of good smut. Every man should try to be a bit more like Nathan Hawkins. 🥵🥵 I expected their scenes would be less exciting as it went on since the first few had me blushing but y’all Hannah Grace did a good smutty romance justice. The spice is perfection.

I really enjoyed this book. A hockey romance will pretty much always win me over but this one is so so good. I loved Anastasia. I loved that we went through the ringer with her & that Nathan was right there with us. Their journey put me through all the emotions, happy smiles, laughing, rage, tears & panty melting swoons. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a soul deep friendship kind of love with some hockey. (my favorite)
